While we are all ready and excited for Christmas... there are a lot of our countrymen who will be spending their Christmas homeless and in grief for the lost not only of their house but also their loved ones.

That is why this Christmas, as Christians, our celebration will not be complete and as meaningful as it should be if we will not take part in being and bringing the light of Christ to those who are in the dark because of the recent typhoon ‘Sendong’ that hit the provinces of Cagayan De Oro,  Iligan and other parts of Mindanao and Visayas.

Let us help letting these people feel the warmth of God’s embrace for them this Christmas, hoping that they would at least have the basics – food, water and clothes  that would make them survive in the next few days.

As individual and as a community we are called to be a light to them...

1.     Pray for them every day, offer your ‘Simbang Gabi’ to them, your Rosaries, Masses.

2.     Donate Online at www.cfchomeoffice.com/sendong via Credit Card and proceeds will be given to the CFC leaders we have in CDO and Iligan for relief operations. Local and International credit cards are accepted.

CAGAYAN DE ORO, Philippines - Philippine rescuers strived with mud, fatigue and the stench of death Sunday to help dazed survivors of devastating flash floods that have killed about 500 people.

Entire villages were washed away when tropical storm “Sendong” (international name: Washi) whipped the southern Philippines on Saturday, leaving a trail of flattened homes, broken bridges and upended vehicles in the poverty-stricken country.

The government and the Philippine National Red Cross appealed for help to feed, clothe and house more than 35,000 people huddled in evacuation centers as soldiers battled to recover bodies from the cloying mud.

A 20,000-strong military force has been mobilized in a huge rescue and relief operation across the stricken north coast of the island of Mindanao, where the major ports of Cagayan de Oro and Iligan were worst hit.
