Couples for Christ USA and its Family Ministries, including Singles for Christ, have joined hands with Pro-Life ministries and organizations from all over the United States in a national campaign called “40 Days for Life.” This is a 40-day campaign from February 25 to April 5, of round-the-clock prayer, fasting, and vigil to end abortion.

SFC Florida participated in a prayer vigil to open the 40 Days for Life at an abortion clinic in Jacksonville. About 50 people attended in the evening of Ash Wednesday, holding candles and praying with all their hearts for the unborn and those contemplating abortion. They kept a peaceful vigil and waited for God to use them. God did not delay. The SFC prayer warriors witnessed and shared God’s love when they were approached by curious minds. “Is there forgiveness?” “We saw you holding up signs that say ‘Pray to end abortion,’ why are you here in the middle of the night?” “How can we be forgiven if we’ve already done this terrible thing?” Lives are being touched and healing has begun. At any time of the day, God is indeed waiting to forgive and to heal.

On the other side of the United States, SFC Southern California, along with Couples, Handmaids, Youth, and Kids participated in this outreach and chose Saturday, March 7 for a whole day prayer vigil. SFC members and households gave an hour of their time to pray for the unborn. The vigil started at 12:00 midnight at a Eucharistic Adoration Chapel and ended at 12:00 midnight the next day. From 7:00am – 5:00pm, the real battle began. SFCs and the rest of the family ministries continued their prayers and fasting in front of an abortion clinic in downtown Los Angeles. They witnessed an average of 5 girls entering the building every hour. Hearts ached for these young women, especially for one who was accompanied by her mother, as they entered the building. But they persevered in prayer and God listens to the faithful. They know of at least 2 women who did not go through with the abortion. Praise God!

Currently, the 40 Days for Life campaign is on day 18 and reports that 126 babies have been saved from abortion in the US. God is good!

Many women have been told countless lies about abortion. Many of them are unaware of the effects of abortion. God seeks to work miracles through us. During this Lenten season, let us be used as God’s instruments of love, forgiveness and healing. As one community, let us join in prayer and fasting for the end of abortion in the US and all over the world.
