"Amen, I say to you, it will be hard for one who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven." – Matthew 19:23
"I don`t have as much money as I used to, but I have more happiness and peace than I used to." These are words a friend of mine said while we were talking over coffee. My friend is now a teacher in the province. She used to make a lot more money working abroad but like many crazy Christians I know, she did something insane. She followed God`s call, and went back to the Philippines to use her talents here. She continued by saying, "You see, back when I had more money, I also had more distractions. I could buy anything I wanted, but I was never quite satisfied. I was always looking for the next thing to have and to own. I was restless. But now I am at peace. I`m home."
I believe her. I see how much happier she is doing what she does best. I see how alive she is — being with her students and devoting the best years of her life helping them realize their full potential.
"It`s true what they say that money isn`t everything. Becoming the kind of person God intended you to be in the first place — now I think that`s priceless," she concluded.
What can I say to that except amen, my friend.Cess Cosico
REFLECTION:
Loving Father, help me see what is truly valuable in my life.
Lord, help me to see what is really of value in my life.

Amen po tayo jan. Posted 5/25/2010 10:32:45 PM | | | LALA | money can make you happy YES! you can go shopping.. eat at your fav restos.. gimik with barkadas.. travel here and there.. BUT MONEY ISNT EVERYTHING! that`s definitely true.. if this is how you think `pag nawalan ka na ng money.. parang nawalan ka na ng buhay.. parang di ka na sasaya without these things.. that is the reason most people focus on MONEY... on earning MORE MONEY.. they thought more money means more happiness.. and for me this is ABSOLUTELY misleading.. Posted 4/30/2010 2:58:18 AM | | | Roselle | Yes, i agree, money isn`t everything, money can`t buy love, can`t buy happiness... many people don`t realize that much and so people have problems... just like the saying "mo` money, mo` problems"...thank you. Posted 4/3/2010 8:37:28 PM | | | Bryan | money is something that we cannot bring in heaven..so why do we have to praise money..be contented with what we have.. Posted 2/23/2010 2:48:48 AM | | | cabrera | money is nothing without love of people and god Posted 9/12/2009 8:31:52 PM | | | Rhea Sylvia | I agree with Argie. Pag di mo pinaghirapan ang pera most of those people nagiging evil but when you earn it with sweat and blood, your character is built at the same time so you become generous enough to share your blessings. kung walang money, walang mayayaman na syang tumutulong sa activities ng parish, sila ung nagdodonate ng malaki. almost every rich man have their charities. i know people na katulad nila, one of those is my mentor. Posted 7/23/2009 8:02:20 PM | | | Rhea Sylvia | I love this sobra. Pumasok na kasi sa isip ko to work abroad para malayo ako sa falily ko and i want naman to think about myself, masyado na kasing nabuhos ang kakaisip ko sa family ko to the point na nakakalimutan ko na ang sarili ko. i want to be out of their sight, yung tipong mahirap nila akong malocate. and aside from it, to earn more than i earn here in the philippines. to prove that i can stand on my own. but something hinder me to do so and that`s my service. my life has been change kasi when i join the community and sobrang laki ng mission ko dito sa philippines. seldom do i look for people na kelangan ng tulong, member man ng community or hindi. willing ako magbigay kahit mawalan ako for those in need. even pagod na ko binibigyan ko pa rin ng time yung nangangailangan. pag nag-abroad aq pano sila, nilalapitan nila ako eh. pano ung mission ko dito? i might earn so much pero magiging masaya ba ako, na alam ko nmana for 3 years na andito sa pilipinas particularly here in manila ang mission ko. mahirap pero kinakaya ko para kay GOPD. mahirap kasi naranasan ko ng parang pulubi, to the point that i survive thru my friends. ang hirap, nakakaiyak lalao n nung almost 3 months halos araw2 inaatake aq ng asthma and sakit ko sa puso. but i dont let my jobless situation and my illness hinder me to serve GOD.
Life is not so easy lalo na pag nagcommit ka to serve GOPD. once you make a decision and commitment, expect torns. mahirap na masarap, that`s the way how we share GOD`s Passion.
Let`s continue to share GOD`s love to others lalo na ngayong peak ng recession. Maraming tao ang nawawalan ng faith, masakit isipin pero pera ang dahilan Posted 7/23/2009 7:56:48 PM | | | Argie | I definitely agree that money isn`t everything, but we should not discount the fact that it somehow affects everything. In one of the business trainings I attended, the speaker shared and somehow corrected the common notion that money is evil or, for some, money is the root of all evil. He said money is not a living thing and should not be blamed for wrong decisions of man. Probably, money is not the problem- it`s the person himself. But money somehow amplifies what a person truly is. If he is innately wicked, then he will probably use money for wrong deeds and selfish ambitions. On the other hand, a good person will be more generous, helpful, productive, and will use the wealth that he has to be a blessing for others. And for me, that really made sense. Being wealthy is a gift than can be used for God`s service, but like any other form of gift (time, talents, etc.), not everyone who has it willfully responds to that call. I guess a matured Christian knows how to discern and make the best use of money; and maybe proper handling of money is also a gift not everyone has. Just thinking aloud, sana nakatulong po...
God bless us always. =)
Posted 6/18/2009 11:58:37 AM | | | Rodelio | I don`t really understand what makes the money is an issue with God`s service. We all know that money isn`t everything. Money cant buy your satisfaction etc... Indeed yes but though no. There`s a lot of things that money can do for the service to God. Its up to the person on how to use it. Money is a blessing to share in a right way, not an issue to debate. Spend it wisely... God Bless everyone! Posted 4/15/2009 1:18:35 PM | | | J-Ann | WOW...this is truly amazing...
I was actually raised abroad, so I can really relate to this...and yes when you start earning money, this is when problems start coming your way..
I just came back from my vacation in the Philippines...and I have never imagined I would feel so homesick...
I miss the simple life there...and I`m thinking about going back there for good and use my talents at the service of our country...
God Bless you all bros & sis!
This article really made my day, in this moment of struggles and hardships...THANK YOU! Posted 9/23/2008 4:31:29 AM | | | sHy | It is helpful in some way. It depends on us on how we take good care of our financial blessings.
I would like to share with you this poem about money. Indeed, money isnt everything.
Money
It can buy a House But not a Home
It can buy a Bed But not Sleep
It can buy a Clock But not Time
It can buy you a Book But not Knowledge
It can buy you a Position But not Respect
It can buy you Medicine But not Health
It can buy you Blood But not Life
It can buy you Sex But not Love
Money isn`t everything It often causes pain and suffering
