In silence, I closed my eyes and listened to God. The recollection master asked the attendees to listen to what God has to say. So I listened, and waited, and listened, and waited.
Until God finally spoke and said "I love you." Then I said, "Yes, I know Lord. But what is your message for me?" He simply said "I love you." So I again responded "Yes Lord, I already understand that you love me infinitely and unconditionally and that you love me as your son. You also have loved me ever since my life began, until now, 24x7, and you will continue to love me unceasingly. But let me know Lord what is it that you want to tell me today." Still the Lord said "I love you."
Finally, a huge realization dawned on me - my understanding of God`s love, no matter how great I think it is, is just the tip of the iceberg. The Lord made me realize that His love means so much more. He was saying the same words because I have so many things to learn and experience about this Love. It would take me a lifetime of learning, experiencing and understanding, but despite that, I will only come to know and understand a bucket-full of that ocean-full of love the Lord has for me, for all of us.
With those 3 words, the Lord was telling me to continue to pursue Him because He will reveal more truths about His great love for me in time. Now I understand why the Lord kept on repeating the same 3 words. In fact, those 3 words are all that I need. These 3 words are enough to keep me assured of my purpose in this world, to keep me hopeful that despite what`s going on in my life now God`s love will see me through, and to keep me joyful that a great and awesome God loves me infinitely.
Three words. Simple yet profound. Short but will last for a life time. So powerful that it can turn nothingness to greatness, emptiness to joy and death to life. I was overwhelmed with those 3 words that I could not think of a better way to respond. But with that lesson of greatness in simplicity, I was instantly moved to say the same powerful three words.
